The President of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Board of Appeal, Barrister Abdulhakeem Uthman Mustapha, and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) has reiterated his resolve to continue to support all efforts geared towards sports and youth development in Kwara and Nigeria.
Barrister Mustapha, while speaking to sportsbash.com.ng in Ilorin over the weekend said that Kwara state government has displayed a lot of commitments, and needs to be complemented by those who have the capacity in one way or the other.
“Going by what we have been seeing, the administration of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has shown more than enough commitment in sports development, and all those who have the capacity would need to stand up and support these efforts.
While reacting to his interventions in making the Kwara Football House come to stay and the ongoing re-grassing of the pitch of the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Barrister Mustapha said that even though much has been achieved, the state still has a long way to go, especially considering the enormous potentials available in it.
“Kwara would be said to be one of the leading states in sports in Nigeria, but we have not won the National Sports Festival, the Federation Cup or the league. This means that we still have a long way to go. The potentials are there for us to go all the way.
While soliciting more private sector presence in youth and sports development in the state, the distinguished legal practitioner added that some philanthropists have been taking the initiative, pointing out that it can only get better.
“Government has been doing its own bit within the limited resources available to it, in the face of numerous demands and challenges, and that’s why we need a synergy between those who have the talents and those who have the capacity to assist.
He commended sportsmen and women in the state, even as he charged them to continue to put in their best. He equally charged the stakeholders, stressing that there are still numerous opportunities where they can derive benefits.
