CNS/NOWA Cup: Enugu, Osun and Kwara teams to battle for gold

All is now set for the finals of the 19th edition of the Chief of Naval Staff National U-14 Boys soccer competition and the 11th edition of the  Naval Officers’Wives Association ( NOWA) football tournament.

The one week football affairs organized by the National body of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) will be climaxed on Sunday, October 2nd, when teams go head to head for the ultimate prizes of the event.

While the final of the female category is going to be a repeat of the tournament’s opening game between Kwara and Osun States where the former thrashed the latter 4-0, a tough game is expected to be on hand when Kwara boys take on their counterpart from Enugu State in the final of the boys category.

In a round of semi-final matches played on Friday,  Kwara Boys secured a one-nil victory over Edo State while Enugu edged the Kebbi State contingent 3-0 in the second encounter.

Meanwhile, Kwara girls were stretched to the spot kick affairs in their game against Oyo State after playing out a one-all draw at the regulation time. The latter would only had to bow after losing 4-5 on penalties while Osun clinched the final after one-nil victory over Benue State.

According to the organisers, the final which will be witnessed by ranks and files will take place at the Queen Elizabeth School, Ilorin on Sunday with the Girls and Boys events billed for 2pm and 3pm respectively.

The third place matches are expected to take place on Sunday morning.
