Liverpool FC are bound to lose their African superstars Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

This is according to legendary Scottish striker Andy Gray, who was on the books of Liverpool’s close rivals, Everton between 1983 and 1985.

Salah and Mane are widely considered to be some of the best players in world football having helped the Reds clinch major trophies in the last 14 months.

The two prolific wingers have inspired Liverpool to UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup and Premier League triumphs.

As a result, Salah and Mane have repeatedly been linked with Spanish football heavyweights FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

“I’ve been saying to you for some time I think he [Salah] will leave Liverpool sooner rather than later and I think Mane might also,” Gray said on Goal.

“If [Salah] told Liverpool ‘by the way, I’m off this summer’, I think they’ve got a real battle on their hands. I don’t think Liverpool can afford to lose both of them.

“I don’t know what their contract terms are, I’m not sure how long each has got. I guess Mane [would] come up and say: ‘Well, if he’s going I want to go as well’. It’s a double battle.

Mane and Salah both signed new five-year deals with Liverpool in 2018 which means they still have three more seasons left in their contracts.

“You only hope if you’re Liverpool that the success they’ve had – Champions League victory last year, championship this year – that that would be enough to keep them at the club,” he added.

“But we know foreign footballers have a different view of the Real Madrids and the Barcelonas of this world. They desperately want to play for them, desperately.”
