The role of GTI Assets Management and Trust Limited in its partnership with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) was to assist the football controlling body in the country on the efficient management of the President Federation Cup, says Nelson Ine, the Executive Director of the company.

While speaking with sportsbash.com.ng at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos on Friday June 27, 2025, Ine, who described the partnership as strategic, added that they have, for the past three seasons, been doing same with the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

“The President Federation Cup is like the unity Cup, and tying it to the Office of the President of the country makes it special. It brings the whole country together, and it allows all clubs to participate, irrespective of their level.

“Our role as GTI is, “we are strategic partners, not sponsors. The whole idea of the involvement of GTI is to work in partnership with the NFF to re-position this asset and make it conducive for all partners to come on board”.

“We are involved in many things that is connected with this, including broadcasting the final of the Federation Cup. We look at the asset, the restructuring, how to restructure the asset in so many rewarding ways.

“We are studying and consulting on how to fully re-position the whole sports properties and look at, what are the deficiencies, what is impeding it’s growth, what is making it unattractive to Nigerians, and all other things that will bring back its glory.

“We are more or less burden bearers. We are doing it with the NPFL, and we have introduced many innovations that have improved, and improving the system.

Ine, who is the GTI’s Project Director for the NFF and the NPFL added that GTI is striving to protect the assets and properties to make them very conducive for corporate Nigerians to come and play their different roles

He added that the strategic partnership with the NFF is subject to review based on performance and results.
