President of the International Handball Federation (IHF) Dr. Hassan Moustafa has sent a condolence message to the Nigeria Handball family on the passing of late Imo Grasshoppers chief coach and one of the coaches of the National U-20 Women Team, Stella Ndudi who died recently after a brief ailment.
Dr. Moustafa, in a letter addressed to president of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) described Coach Stella as one whose dedication to the game of handball has left an indelible mark that can never be forgotten.
Quoting him verbatim; ‘her passion and dedication for our sport as a player, coach, captain, advocate, champion and Olympian will live on forever’.
While consoling the HFN, the IHF boss urged the handball family to have strength and take heart at this difficult time.
‘On behalf of the International Handball Federation and the entire handball community, I will like to convey my sincerest condolence to you, Imo Grasshoppers, the Handball Federation of Nigeria and the Ndudi family’
Coach Stella Ndudi, who died after a brief ailment, was an assistant director with Imo State Sports commission and the Chief Coach of Prudent Energy Handball Premier League side, Imo Grasshoppers.
She led the Imo Grasshoppers Handball Club to many successful tournaments.
As a player and captain, she led Grasshoppers to win several national and even international championships in the late 80s and 90s.
She was also consistent with the national team, helping the team to win their 1st African Nations cup for Nigeria in 1991 as they defeated Angola in Egypt and also qualified for the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona.
She was part of the Techinal Crew of the National Under 20 Women Handball Team that participated the IHF Challenge Trophy in 2019 at Niamey, Niger Republic.
