Kwara contingent for Para National Sports Festival lands in Abuja

Kwara State contingents landed in Abuja this afternoon, ahead of the maiden Para-National Sports Festival 2022. 

The state has approved 45 athletes to participate in Amputee football, Para-Athletics, Para-Badminton, Para-Soccer, Para-Table Tennis, Powerlifting, Wheelchair Basketball, Wheel Chair Tennis, and Deaf Sports.

The competition runs from today, Saturday, April 9 to Friday, April 15, 2022.

The Executive Chairman of Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, while addressing the contingents at the Kwara State Stadium Complex, charges them to be good ambassadors of the state in Abuja.

He thanked all the athletes for the love they have shown to represent the state and also, appreciated the coaches for their patience, dedication, and commitment.

He stated further that the maiden edition of the Para-Sports Games is aimed at giving People Living With Disability (PLWD) in sports a sense of belonging and opportunity to exhibit all their potential which is in line with the present administration’s policy of inclusion in ensuring that Para-Sports are given the same opportunity as their able-bodied counterparts. 


He commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for making efforts to ensure that the team’s participation becomes a reality, despite the financial difficulties.

“We thank Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for meeting the demands for the participation of Team Kwara at the Sports Festival in Abuja”, Mogaji said.
