Kwara Ex-Basketball Professionals  U-16 Championship ends in Ilorin

Ex-Basketball players who rose through the basketball culture in Kwara State put together close to 100 kids at the inaugural edition of “Kwara Basketball Ex-Professional
U-16 Basketball competition”  held at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Kwara State Stadium Complex in Ilorin, today Tuesday, July 12th 2022.
The one-day championship had five male teams and two female teams in participation.
They are Unilorin Secondary school, Basketball Hounds Academy (Junior and Senior), St. Anthony Secondary School (Boys and Girls), Okelele (Boys and Girls), Stadium Academy and Federal Staff School.
Former Falcons and Islander player, Lasun Fakeye, who led the campaign explained that the window was meant to rekindle the light they had during their playing days and promised to sustained it thereafter.
They added that it was a strategy to redefine the directions of the game at the grassroots.
Hounds Academy senior team won the championship, outscoring Junior Hounds Academy 32-22 in the final.
Prizes, gifts and awards were given to all participants in a ceremony attended by members of the State Sport Commission, led by Mallam Bola Mogaji, Kwara Basketball Veterans, Kwara State Basketball Association amongst other individuals.
Mallam Bola Mogaji commended the organisers for reckoning with grassroots development, even as he charged all participants to strive hard in their chosen field.
