Kwara FA adjusts Football Council Elections timetable

The Kwara State Football Association has adjusted the timetable for the Football Council Elections, even as the date for the elections, which is 18th March 2023 remain unchanged.

The FA said  that the ammendments became necessary, due to the  inability of aspirants to purchase forms because of scarcity of cash due to the ongoing monetary policy, as well as the timetable for the governorship elections.

The Association has also informed the Electoral and Appeals Committees of the Kwara State Football Association, stakeholders from the 16 Local Football Councils and others to take cognisance of the adjustments. 

Going by the adjustments made, selling of nomination forms into all offices in the Football Council of the 16 Local Government Areas of the state, which is ongoing will now end on 8th March, 2023, as against the earlier approved date.

The last day for the return of forms and screening of contestants will hold at the Kwara State Football House on 9th March, 2023, beginning from by 10:00am. The initial date for the screening was 7th March, 2023.

List of successful aspirants will be displayed on 10th March, 2023. Appeal (if any) after the screening of aspirants will be heard on 13th March, 2023, while the final list of the successful and qualified aspirants will be  displayed on 14th March, 2023.

The Elections for the Football Councils for all the 16 Local Government Areas will hold at the Football House on 18th March, 2023.

The Chairman of the FA, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa therefore, thanked the Electoral and Appeals Committee and the stakeholders for their sacrifice, adding that the adjustments were to make the exercise worthwhile.

He commended members of the outgoing Football Councils for supporting the cause of football development at the grassroots, even as he charged would-be aspirants to ensure that all rules and guidelines are adhered to completely, adding that no rule will be compromised.

The members of the Kwara State Football Association Electoral Committee members are Alhaji Saliu Ojibara (Chairman), Alhaji Abdulkareem Ayinde and  Barrister Anthony Kayode Towoju.

In the Appeals Committee are Mr Emmanuel Dada Obafemi (Chairman), Mrs Serah Bola Esan and Professor AbdulGafar Ijaiya.
