Coaches, athletes and members of staff of the Kwara State Sports Commission have been charged to braze up for challenges ahead of the new year, which, according to the Executive Chairman, Mallam Bola Mogaji, will be loaded with sporting activities.
While addressing the staffers, who included the coaches and athletics on Wednesday at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Commission during a get-together, Mallam Mogaji thanked them all for making year 2021 worthwhile, adding that they can make year 2022 even better.
He said that Kwara State Sports Festival, National Youth Games in Kano and the National Sports Festival in Asaba, Delta state, as well as other national and zonal competitions and tournaments will hold in 2022.
“We thank our Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the board members, the elders, past Directors of Sports, members of staff, the coaches and athletes, for their contributions to the development of sports in the state.
“This get-together was sometimes ago, a tradition, and holding it this year means that we have re-introduced it, and will also sustain it.
“We shall also add value to the get-together by introducing reward system, to encourage hard work and commitment.
In their goodwill messages, the former Sports Commissioner in the state, Mallam Hameed Adio, former Director of Sports, Mallam Tunde Kazeem and the General Manager of Kwara United FC, Bashir Badawiy commended the stakeholders, for supporting the Kwara Sports Project.
They said that the totality of the successes of sports in Kwara state depends on all stakeholders, even as they commended the Sports Commission, for re-introducing the end of the year get-together.
The Commission’s 12 groundsmen and women were given gifts for their commitments in the year under review. They are Saadu Anafi, Rasaki Woli, Ajibola Anobi, Fatai Sulaiman, Wosila Taiye and Zainab Hameed.
Others are Sulaiman Jimoh, Jimoh Memudu, Deborah James, Ibrahim Adamu and Taiye Bello
