The ongoing 2023 Kwara State Federation Cup competition has entered the semi-final stage, after the conclusion of the quarter-final fixtures today.

SGFC Athletics Sports Club on Wednesday defeats House Of Prayer FC 2-0 to set-up a semi-final clash with Kwara United, while Foresight Football Academy today defeated Dickalo FA 3-1, to earn a ticket to play Abubakar Bukola Saraki Ilorin FC in the second semi-final match.

Sunday Ekene netted a second half brace with goals coming on the 60th and 75th minutes to give SGFC Athletics a deserved win over House of Prayer in a crucial encounter decided at the Kwara Football Academy pitch.

Also today, Foresight FA beat Dickalo FA 3-1, with Bamidele Samuel scoring the first goal for the winners. Dickalo FA equalised early in the second half, but they couldn’t withstand the firepower thereafter, as Samad Abdullahi and Sunday Bamidele got the second and the third goal for Foresight FA.

Kwara United FC will play SGFC Athletics in the first semi-final match on Sunday 12th, March 2023, beginning from 10am, as ABS Ilorin FC is expected to play Foresight FA in the second semi-final match same day, by 12noon.

The winners of the two semi-final matches qualify for the national competition.

The final matches for both male and female competitions have been fixed for Wednesday 15th March, 2023. The two female teams, Kwara Ladies FC and Moje Queens of Erin-Ile that registered for the female competition will clash in the final.

The organisers, Kwara State Football Association, commended the participating teams for sustaining the development of the round leather game in the state and Nigeria, and for playing by the rules.

The message, delivered by the Chairman of the Kwara FA, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa, also tasked the eventual representatives of the state at the national competition to do the state proud.
