Kwara SWAN marks World Sports Journalists Day, task members on creativity

The Kwara State chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has felicitated with the Association of International Press in Sports (AIPS) on this year’s occasion of World Sports Journalists Day.

Speaking on the occasion which  marks 97 years old celebration of the AIPS, the Chairman, Kwara state chapter of SWAN, Mallam Jimoh Bashir tasked sports journalists to continue to uphold the values and ideals of the profession.

Bashir, while commending all the members for keeping sports lovers abreast of the latest happenings in sports enjoined them to use their various platforms to strengthen the profession by maintaining its intrinsic values, while also serving as the watchdogs of the society.

Meanwhile, in his own remark, the CEO and Publisher of Sportspro News, Bayour Issah urged sports writers on the need to inspire through their delivery, stressing the importance of creativity and objectivity as part of their guiding principles.  

The AIPS has themed this year’s occasion as ‘Tokyo 2020 Media: Sports and mental health is the future of access to the sources in peril” with an e-conference (zoom) serving as the platform for the deliberations around the topic.
