Kwara SWAN opens 2022 Identity Card registration process

The Kwara State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has announced the opening of Identity Card registration process for this year, and the process will last for only one week, with effect from Tuesday January 25, 2022.

All members with up-to-date Identity Cards are enjoined to get across to the Secretariat to validate their registration for this year, while new members are expected to formally register, and also apply for SWAN Identity Cards.

It would be recalled that SWAN Identity Card is the only means of justification of belonging to the sports reporting fraternity throughout the Federation, as the National body has sanctioned that no sports reporter should be accorded rights and privileges without it.

New members are advised to obtain Registration Forms from the Secretariat, fill and also return same with the required amount for both registration and Identity Cards within a week from Tuesday January 25, 2022.

In line with the Statute of SWAN, any professional journalist employed or retired, but actively involved in sports journalism and earning his living as a Reporter, Researcher, Presenter, Director, Editor, Controller, Commentator, Producer, Photographer or Cameraman in a Newspaper, Magazine, News Agency, Periodical, Radio or Television Stations and CAC Certified Online media in Nigeria, shall be eligible to register as a full member.

Also, Correspondents’ of news media in a state who cover sports shall be eligible as Associate members untill after one year of demonstrable interest in sports coverage and regular attendance of meetings before they shall be certified and accorded full membership.

Membership shall be validated annually upon the payment of registration fees.

All already registered members are to pay N2000 while the chapter will subsidized the remaining amount as a way to encourage them for standing by the association.
