Kwara United Football Club finished the first round in fifth position on the table, winning nine matches, three draws and losing six, to stand at 31 points and two goals surplus.

“We are presently fifth on the NPFL table with 31 points, and that may not have underscored our total commitment to the target we set this season, but that is not to say that we are unaware of the seriousness of the league and our part in challenging for the top.

The team has so far sustained it’s home record of not losing any match in Ilorin, winning eight out of the nine home matches in the first round, dropping points against Rangers International alone.

The team scored a total of 13 goals and conceded only two, ending it’s home run with 25 points and +11 goals difference.

Kwara United Football Club won only one game away from home in the first round, against MFM FC in Lagos, and drew three matches against Abia Warriors, Akwa United and Nasarawa United FC, and lost the remaining six.

“Going by the challenges encountered, I would say we had fair results in the first round, but we must do more in the second round, which as usual, will be tougher, if we are to achieve our aims.

“We have identified some of our challenges, and coming with that was the hope that our sports loving Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq will assist us in tackling them as at when due.

“Last season, we missed continental ticket in an unfortunate way, and we have to up our resolve towards achieving it this season, and that’s why we are seeking the support of the government and Kwarans.

“I will want to commend the Governor for giving us the wherewithal, even as we seek for more support.

Titiloye said that the first round technical reports will be thoroughly studied, with a view to improving on the team itself, as he commended the players and coaches for their sacrifice, adding that the team will continue to prioritize the payment of their salaries and allowances as at when due.
