In furtherance to its developmental blueprint for the growth of Wrestling, the Chairman of the Kwara State Wrestling Association, Mr AugustusvIkenwa has appointed technocrats into several working committees, to further develop wrestling in the state.
The Chairman, who gave the hint in an exclusive chat with journaliats over the weekend in Ilorin, said that the development will help enhance wrestling potentials that will bring honour to the state and the country at large.
Augustus, fondly referred to as Cerezo, noted that the strategic appointments is aimed at maximizing the potentials available to the state wrestling body in its drive to develop the sport at the grassroots, a development which he says, will culminate into the construction of a world class gymnasium in Ilorin.
The Chairman also confirmed the appointment of the Sportpro News Publisher, Bayour Issah as the Chief of Staff to the Association with a charge towards repositioning the sport in line with the developmental programmes of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.
Augustus enjoined all the appointees to see the appointment as a way of giving back to the society and the desire of the association to place the sport in its rightful place.
The Chairman further assured that the ‘Adopt a Champion Wrestling Initiative’ of the association, which is premised on three key indicators: Equipment and Facility Upgrade, Health Insurance, and Diet will be a precursor to the construction of a multipurpose wrestling gymnasium.
In line with the State health policy, he revealed that the Health Insurance Scheme, which will kick off in October this year would provide free treatment to the Wrestlers in the state for all sports injuries and surgeries at no cost from Reliance Health Management Organisation, a primary Health provider, adding that other aspects of the initiative will follow suit in November this year.
