Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara has endorsed the candidature of the State Football Association Chairman, Malam Idris Abdullahi Musa, for a place on the board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in the forthcoming September 30th election in Benin, the Edo State capital.
The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Malam Bola Mogaji, conveyed the Governor’s message to the candidate in his office today, when Malam Musa presented his nomination form to him.
Malam Mogaji told the Kwara FA Boss that Governor AbdulRazaq has been briefed about his intention to run, and he has given his full weight for him to emerge as the candidate from the North Central.
“It should be the turn of Kwara to be on the board of the NFF because every other state in the North Central have had a fair share of the position.
“This much the Governor has been briefed, because the last time we had an opportunity like this was during the tenure of late Dr. Ayo Bello, which is more than 20 years ago now.
“We are solidly behind you and I can assure you that we will give you all the necessary support to emerge” Malam Mogaji said.
Responding, the Kwara FA boss, Malam Idris Abdullahi Musa thanked the Governor, first for his support to football development in the state in general.
He also thanked Governor AbdulRazaq for backing him to succeed at the September 30th, NFF elections in Benin.
“Sir, if given the opportunity, I will focus on development of the game from the grassroots because that’s where we have a lot of work to do.
“If you noticed sir, since I assumed office, we have organized the State League every year which is aimed at developing the players at the grassroots because we don’t allow anyone who had played any league before to participate” Musa said.
