Para National Sports Festival: Kwara tops medals table

Kwara State para-athletes who are participating in the Maiden Edition Para National Sports Festival in Abuja have won a total of 14 medals, leading the medals table.

The state has won five gold, four silver and five bronze medals so far, with more finals to be decided before the Games ends today.

Kano state is second on the table with three gold, two silve and five bronze medals, while Oyo state has three gold, two silver and three bronze medals, to place third, in the Games being completed by 14 states.

The para-athletes only a few days ago had received Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who was in the camp to inspire the athletes, where he reiterated his administration’s efforts to continue repositioning sporting activities in the state.

The Executive Governor during the visit, charged the para athletes to be a good ambassador of the state.

The visit was to wish the team well at the Para National Sports Festival holding at the National Stadium, Abuja, and also to assured the team of governments continues support.

Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq also took time to remind the players and the technical team of the need to strive to make it to the top of the table.

Special Adviser on Sports and Youth Matters, Hon. Attahiru Ibrahim Abdulkadir, while receiving His Excellency urged the para-athletes to reciprocate the good gesture of Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as his overwhelming support for sports is second to none.

“His Excellency’s giant stride in the area of sports development deserves accolades. We are not surprised, as his love for sports started from his youthful days”, he said.

“Kwara will forever be grateful to your Excellency, as you remain committed to sports development”, he added.
