Kwara United Football Club midfielder, Jide Fatokun, who won the team’s Player of the Month Award for April 2023, has said that the honour will propel him to do more on and off the field of play.

Fatokun was selected as Player of the Month of April, following his consistency, work rate and positive contributions to the team, discipline, which captures his behaviour on and off the pitch, in the period under review.

Fatokun has played every minute of all Kwara United matches in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and the matches in the Federation Cup so far this season, making huge impacts and contributions.

The award, being sponsored by a football enthusiast and one of the strong supporters of Kwara United Football Club, Engineer Olaide Ahmed was introduced as a motivational incentive to propel the team to improve on its ratings in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

While receiving the award yesterday after Kwara United defeated Nasarawa United by a lone goal at the Akure Township Stadium, Fatokun expressed delight with the recognition, adding that its a challenge to do more for the team, and the game.

Fatokun, it would be recalled, was one of the recipients of an award at the Kwara SWAN Award Night in December 2021 for his outstanding performances with Kwara United.

Fatokun commended the management of the team, as well as the players, for their support, adding that the award was for the whole team and not him alone. He equally commended the sponsor, Engr Olaide Ahmed, for his support to the team.

“We worked together, played together, and must achieve together. As you can see in our game against Nasarawa United. Our togetherness gave us the all-important victory, which ensured we escaped relegation.

On Kwara United, Fatokun said that lovers of the club should expect a better team next season.

“Kwarans should expect a better team next season. We didn’t get it right from the beginning of the 2022/2023 NPFL Abridged League, that’s why we are struggling, and I think that is over with the victory over Nasarawa United”, he averred.
