Stakeholders adopts abridged system for NNL again

Nigeria National League (NNL) stakeholders have unanimously adopted the abridged format for the 2020/2021 season with 42 clubs divided in groups A1, A2, B1, B2 Northern and Southern Conferences respectively, subject to its congress ratification.

The decision was part of the resolutions reached at the Meeting of the Nigeria National League (NNL) Stakeholders with the newly appointed management team, held on Friday November 6th, at Top Rank Hotel, Galaxy, Abuja.

The resolutions, drawn in an eight-point communiqué also okayed and adopted strict adherence to the provisions of proper medical and insurance cover for players and officials as compulsory for all the clubs to participate in the league.

The stakeholders enjoined the new Management to set up a standard and well equipped Media Department to promote the NNL brand, the image of the league as well as ensure regular refresher trainings for clubs’ Media/Communication Managers/Directors/Officers.

The meeting recognized the mandate given by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for the League to start the new season three-weeks after the commencement of the apex league, the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), subject to its congress ratification.

They welcomed the newly appointed Management Committee of the NNL, headed by Distinguished Senator Obinna Ogba.

The stakeholders commended the President of the NFF, Amaju Pinnick, who was represented by the General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, for identifying with the NNL to put the league in the right frame.

A minute’s silence was observed in honour of the former Chairman of the NNL and ex- Enugu State FA boss, late Sir. Chidi Ofor Okenwa.

The Communique was signed by Abdul Sule (Chairman), Rasheed Balogun, Emmanuel Adesanya, Sajo Mohammed and Alloy Chukwuemeka.

Meanwhile, the newly appointed Management Committee has assured the stakeholders of a new dawn in the NNL, with a vision to reposition the league as the Most  Important league in Nigeria.
