Football fans are having a swell time at the ongoing Chief of the Naval Staff and NOWA Boys and Girls Championships in Abuja.

The annual competitions, put together by the Nation’s foremost Youth Sports organizing body, the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) has continued to attract attention and serious interest as teams are in tensed battle to qualify from the group stages.

The U-14 Boys defending champions, Ekiti state are facing a tough challenge as their Kaduna opponents are up in arms to dethrone them.

The Nigerian Navy team are also not relenting, especially after a 2-0 win over Bauchi in their first match.

Bauchi, who are desperate to qualify from their group need an outright win over Enugu.

After an initial 1-1 draw, Edo State team also need a win to boost their chances.

Many other mouth-watering encounters are lined up at other venues, the Nigeria Fire Service playground in Kwali and the NSCDC football pitch at Souka.

For the girls, the Navy team will  have their hands full when they confront their Imo state opponents. Only a win will guarantee them a place in the quarter-finals.

FCT girls will look to consolidate their position but with superior fire power from their Ekiti opponents. Only the more determined team will carry the day.
