World Olympian Association honours Hameed Adio

The World Olympian Association has honoured the Team Nigeria Captain to the ‘Moscow 1980’ Olympics, Hameed Adio with a certificate of recognition.

The veteran sports journalist attended a total number of eight Olympic Games; as an athlete in Moscow 1980 and as a Sports Journalist covering the Games for both NTA and the African Union (AU) for another seven events.

“In recognition of your achievements as an Olympian, you are granted use of the post-nominal letters of OLY to signify your ongoing role in society as an Olympian living and promoting the Olympic value” the certificate reads.

Adio was a former Director of Sports and Commissioner of Sports and Youth Development in Kwara state. He retired as a General Manager with the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Abuja.

Among other Nigerians who also received the Olympian recognition is the former Super Eagles talisman, Chief Segun Odegbami.

Meanwhile, Sportspro News  Publisher, Bayour Issah has  commended the Olympian for his outstanding performance as an athlete and administrator.

He added that the veteran broadcaster and Ambassador of Kwara SWAN has placed the flag of Kwara on the world map, and believe that his mentorship will go a long way to inspire many.
