1st Kwara State Zonal and Invitational Kickboxing Championship holds in Ilorin

Kick boxing athletes from over 20 states of the federation will converge in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital between July 28th to 31st, for the 1st Kwara State Zonal and Invitational Kickboxing championship.

Also coming with the championship is a seminar for referees, aimed at discussing the new rules and amendment to the rules of officiating the sport.

The championship, which is being sponsored by Barrister Ibrahim Atanda will hold at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Kwara State Sports Council, beginning from 8.00am each day.

According to the Coordinator of the championship, Sidiq Bolaji, events will hold in all the 15 weight categories in the sport, in both low kick competition and full contact.

He said that each of the participating states will be expected to field athletes in all categories, in both male and female classes, with 30 gold, 30 silver and 60 bronze medals up for grabs at the championship.

Kwara will join other states in the North Central, which includes Benue, Kogi, Niger, Nasarawa, Plateau states and Abuja to jostle for honours against other invited states.

The other states expected to participate are Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Oyo, Abia, Bayelsa, Rivers, Adamawa, Borno, Kaduna, Enugu, Osun, Ekiti and Anambra.

Barrister Ibrahim Atanda is the Proprietor of Al-Raheem International Schools, Oke-Foma area, Ga’a Saka, Ilorin, and is the incoming Chairman of Kickboxing Association in Kwara state.
