*ABS FC tackle Unilorin Warriors in opening match, Saturday
35 Club from Ilorin and it’s environs have registered to participate in the second edition of Emir of Ilorin Football Competition, with the opening ceremony fixed for Queen Elizabeth School, Ilorin, by 3.00pm on Saturday October 19, 2024.
The championship, which is being organised by the Ilorin Emirate Football Councils, led by the Chairman of Ilorin West Local Football Council, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Owolabi Agbaji Wopa was initiated to celebrate the 29th coronation anniversary of Mai Martaba, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, CFR.
The draw for this year’s hostilities held tday, Thursday October 17, 2024, at the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
The draw pitched KWASU Warriors, Kwara Polytechnic, Araba FC and Olufahz together in Group A, while Skills FC, BGS FC, Excellent Skills and Dohz FC will play from Group B.
In Group C are Nationwide FC, Vision FC, Excel Guys. Unity FC and Oscar FA; AbbreySports is in Group D alongside Athletico FC, NA Royal FA and Foresight FA, as Young Talents, La Planet, Koller FA, Peculiar FA and DollyP FA will tango from Group E.
Kzeez FC, Yinolu FC, Phoenix FA and Ganmo United are in Group F; Sunrise FA, Oladunni FC, Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC, House of Prayers FC and Unillorin Warriors in Group G, and in the last group, Group H are Sunshine FA, Corporate Ballers, Derby FC and JAD FA.
Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC will take on Unilorin Warriors in the opening match of the championship at Queen Elizabeth School pitch, on Saturday October 19, 2024, from 3.00pm
Expected to grace the opening ceremony are the representatives of the Emirate Council, the Royal family, government functionaries and officials, football enthusiasts, stakeholders and club representatives.
Police Machine FC of Ilorin are the defending champions of the championship.
