The eight quarter-finalists of the ongoing 3rd Hajia Dr Aisha Bala Mohammed National U-15 Boys soccer competition have emerged.
The four quarter-final matches have been fixed for tomorrow, at the Main-Bowl of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.
The tournament is being organised by the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) in honour of the wife of the Governor of Bauchi State (Sarauniyar Bauchi).
In the remaining group matches concluded today, hosts, Bauchi 1 defeated Ekiti 3-0, FCT lost 1-2 to Ondo, Kaduna defeated Gombe 3-2, while Jigawa lost 1-4 to Kano.
Also, Adamawa lost 0-3 to Katsina, Plateau lost by same goal margin to Bauchi 2, Niger beat Kebbi 4-1, as Yobe and Borno ended their match three goals apiece.
With the results, Bauchi and Ondo states qualified as first and second in Group A, with nine and six points respectively, while Kaduna and Gombe state do same in Group B on seven and four points respectively.
Katsina finished Group C with nine points, followed by Niger on six points, with Yobe and Borno making it out from Group D on seven and five points in that order.
Tomorrow, Thursday January 23, 2025, Bauchi 1 will square up against Gombe in the first quarter-final match, by 9.30am. The second knock-out stage match between Kaduna and Ondo begins 10.30am.
The third quarter-final encounter will be between Katsina and Borno by 11.30am, while Yobe and Niger play by 12.30pm, for a place in the semi-finals.
YSFON launched the 3rd edition of the Hajia Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed National Under-15 Boys Soccer Tournament with an ellaborate opening ceremony on Sunday, January 19, 2025, in Bauchi State.
Named after the wife of the Governor of Bauchi State, Hajia Dr. Aisha Bala Mohammed (Sarauniyar Bauchi), the tournament has drawn young football talent from across Nigeria.
The event aims to promote youth development and foster sportsmanship among the nation’s young footballers, providing them with a platform to showcase their talents. With such broad representation, the tournament is expected to be a key milestone in identifying and nurturing future football stars of Nigerian football.
