CAFCC: Taofik Jimoh charges Kwara United ahead continental challenge

Former Sunshine Stars of Akure FC midfield maestro, Taofik Jimoh, popularly known as Kekere has congratulated Kwara United Football Club for winning the 2025 Presidents’ Federation Cup.

Kwara United Football Club defeated Abakaliki FC 4-3 on penalties in the final on Saturday June 28, 2025, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos to win the trophy for the first time in history. The match had ended goalless at regulation time.

The win also qualifies Kwara United for the 2025/2026 CAF Confederation Cup competition.

The retired ex-Kwara Stars playmaker, who jetted into the country from Italy to personally cheer the club to victory at the Onikan water front last Saturday is full of commendation to the management and players of the team for achieving the feat.

He however, urged the state government to earnestly release funds for effective preparations for the forthcoming CAF Confederations Cup competition.

The Offa-born International businessman now based in Bergamo, Italy, is also calling on other well meaning Kwarans to financially support the team as the impending continental assignment requires huge financial commitment to ease the burden on the Kwara state government.

He also urged that more attention be given to grassroots soccer in the country and state, in order to create more depth for the existing talents in various cadres of the system.

He equally commended Kwara United Football Club for supporting youth programmes through the U19 team, which also won the inaugural Super 8 of the Ń-Youth League championship.

Taofik added that a strategic plan is underway to build a 5-a-side field in Offa to kick start a development plan before the end of the year
