Newly introduced FIBMAL Football Academy, based in Buari, in Ifelodun Local Government Areas of Kwara state has scheduled a one week screening exercise for potential and talented footballers, beginning from Saturday January 25, 2025.

The exercise, which is expected to end on Saturday February 1, 2025 have selection windows for players between ages 11 and 18.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Academy, Professor Afonja Ibrahim said that he was motivated by the numerous talents that abounds in the country, as well as the bid to complement the efforts of the state government in sports development.

“I discovered that there is so many football talents in this country, but there are limited opportunities and encouragement. Again, government cannot shoulder the responsibilities alone.

“We need to complement government in developing the youths meaningfully, so as to make our society a better place.

“I am a lover of sports, especially football, and all these accentuated my interest in establishing the Academy, as a platform for our youths who have the potentials.

Professor Afonja, who is the Proprietor of Adewale Ibrahim College of Health Sciences commended the state Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for providing the enabling atmosphere that supports youth and sports development, adding that that gesture has equally motivated him and some others to venture into the uplift of sports at various levels.

He also praised the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Magaji and the State Football Association Chairman, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa, for the acceptance and encouragement.

Professor Afonja said that the Academy has been fully registered, and has affiliated to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) through the State FA.

He charged potential and talented young players to take advantage of the opportunity by registering to participate in the screening exercise, which, according to him, will be handled by qualified coaches.
