Ilorin Golf Club today, emerged champions after beating Ikeja Golf Club 22 points to 15 in the Inter-Club Matchplay tagged “Clash of the IGCs”, after day two of hostilities at the Ilorin Golf Club.
Ilorin Golf Club had early taken the lead on Day One of the friendly competition which started with Doubles Matchpay Format, bagging 9 and a half points against 6 and a half points against their opponents.

In the Singles Matchplay Format today, Ilorin Golf Club won 12 and half points against Ikeja Golf Club’s 8 and half points, bringing the final result to 22 points against 15.
Major players that made impact for Ikeja Golf Club are Barrister Akeem Akintoye (Ajiroba of Oniru), Mr Doyin Owolabi (Former ICAN President), Mr. Yomi Egbe Haledon and the duo of Barrister Jacob Shaba and Jide Oseni, who both won their two matches.

For Ilorin Golf Club, they include Akeem Habeeb, Deji Akinboyowa, Yusuf Abdulwahab, Malik Mustapha, Sola Aliyu, General Abdulahi Otta Uthman (Rtd) and General Israel Akan (rtd), all of whom won their two matches.
The matches of the Captains and Vice Captains were considered ceremonial, and didn’t count.

However, Ahlaji AWA Ibraheem, who played and won for Ilorin Golf Club on Day One, played for Ikeja Golf Club on Day Two, being the immediate past President of the Lagos Club, and won again.
While analysing the competition, the Captains of the two Clubs, AbdulRasheed Adebisi of Ikeja Golf and Jide Allen of Ilorin Golf Club expressed delight with the friendly gathering aimed at promoting unity and togetherness.

The duo saluted the sacrifices of their members at making the competition worthwhile, pledging to build on the new found relationship.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of Ilorin Golf Club, Hon. Justice Lambo Akanbi (rtd), represented by a member of the BoT, Pharmacist Layi Maliki presented a formal letter of Reciprocal Membership to the Captain of Ikeja golf club, Abdulrasheed Adebisi.

Adesisi, who showed appreciation for the gesture and warm hospitality accorded him and his members, promised to respond formally to the letter, while he also noted that they are already looking forward to the return match in Ikeja.
