The TIC Chairman of Isin Local Government Area, Engr. Tunde Fadipe has said that his administration will continue to encourage the development of youths, especially through sports.
Speaking with journalists in Ilorin today, Engr. Fadipe said that the Council is currently working on having a Sports Centre at Iji, and that preliminary works on the project began last year, and will be completed next year.
“Isin Local Council has a Secretary, who also doubles as the Supervisor for Sports and Youth Engagement, and that’s to tell you we have a plan for youth and sports.
“Isin Local Government came second in the last State Primary Schools’ football competition, and the Council also co-sponsored the recently concluded Seyi Edunfunke memorial soccer competition in the Local Government, all in a bid to give the youths opportunities they deserve.
Even though Isin is one of the Local Governments with numerous communities, Engr. Fadipe said that the Council is leveraging on the school management system to reach out to all the nooks and crannies of the Local Government, to spread the sports development agenda.
“We are also planning for athletics competition in August. The Athletics competition will be used to discover young and talented athletes, as we want to target athletes in the age ranges of 10 to 12, and 13 to 17, in Primary and Junior Secondary Schools.
He therefore, charged the youths to take advantage which sports provides, as a means of livelihood, instead of engaging in cyber crimes and other social vices.
Engr. Fadipe commended the state Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his giant strides in sports development.
