Jide Allen wins Kwara NUJ/Joana Kolo table tennis tourney

Jide Allen of Radio Kwara has won this year’s NUJ/Joana Kolo Inter-Chapel table tennis competition, after beating the defending champion, Abubakar Adebayo of Sobi FM in three straight set.

Jide Allen, who outcast all his opponents in the competition won the tournament unbeatable. 

It will be recalled that he also won the maiden edition of the competition in 2014.

Yetunde Bamidele of the State Information chapel also won the female category, beating Nusirat Popoola of Kwara State Television Chapel.

Speaking at the occasion, the General Manager of Radio Kwara, Alhaji Kayode Aremu represented by the Director Programmes, Mrs. Tina Olaoye, emphasized the need for journalists to build love and togetherness in the discharge of their duties.

Alhaji Aremu, described sports as a unifying factor that must be promoted by all stakeholders, pledging his support to all sporting activities.

In a remark, the Chairman of the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Umar Abdulwahab, congratulated the participants, especially the winners, saying that the competition was organized to allow journalists to relax their nerves and move beyond writing.

The NUJ Chairman commended the management of Radio Kwara for the support given to the council  towards ensuring the success of this year’s press week.

Also speaking, the Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, Kwara State chapter, Mrs. Bola Olupinla, appealed to journalists to always participate in sporting activities to guarantee their fitness.

Prizes and awards to the winner will be done on Saturday during the Awards and Dinner Night of the Council to round off this year’s press week events
