Sports Reporters, Brand Managers and Marketing Administrators will tomorrow, May 31, 2023, converge at Henry George Hotel, Ilorin, for a Capacity Building Seminar being packaged by the Kwara state chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).
The one-day Capacity Building Seminar, with the theme, “Sport Branding, Marketing and Administration” is expected to commence by 10.am, and is being organized in conjunction with the Department of Mass Communication, University of Ilorin.
It would be recalled that SWAN entered into a partnership with the Mass Communication Department of the Better by Far University, University of Ilorin on the need to periodically deepen members’ knowledge on sports reportage, and its supporting components.
The exercise was in line with present Executives’ resolve, as contained in the election promises by the Chairman of Kwara SWAN, Ayodeji Salihu Ismail, to raise the knowledge base of members of the sports writing body in the state.
“Capacity building is one of the focal points of the current leadership as it will go a long way in reshaping sports journalism in the state. There are vast areas of specialties in sports that can be tapped as journalists and not only reportage. The capacity building is long overdue because it is time for some of our members to focus on sports branding, marketing, and Public Relations”, Ayodeji had said.
Expected to deliver lectures at the seminar are Dr. Razaq Adisa, who is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Mass Communication, University of Ilorin, and Mr. Toyosi Oyetunji, a Sport Communication Expert and Marketer.
Also expected to deliver a lecture is the Consultant for the Project, Mr. Shogo Shodunnke, who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PhreeStyle Sport, and the Organizer of the famous annual AmaPro football competition in Ilorin.
The seminar is being powered by the Chairman of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Appeal Committee, Barrister A. U. Mustapha.
