KWSG reiterates support for grassroots sports, as Isin LG introduces Gov AA U15 football tourney

Kwara State government has again reiterated its resolve to continue to partner all relevant agencies and to support all efforts at giving the youths the right atmosphere and empowerment to exhibit their talents in sports.

The Execitive Chairman of the State Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Mogaji stated this today, April 28, 2023, at the Isin Local Government Secretariat, during the presentation of Isin Local Football Council members to the stakeholders.

While pledging to support the move to reintroduce Zonal Offices to ease the development of sports at the grassroots, he added that the growth and development of sports is paramount for many things, including, but not limited to using it as weapon for checking social vices among the youth.

The Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) Chairman for Isin Local Government Area, Engr. Timothy Tunde Fadipe said that the presentation of the Football Council was a demonstration of his administration’s commitment to sports development.

While promising to support the Football Council in its activities, he announced the provision of office for the Football Council at Oke-Onigbin, payment of 2023 subscription and balance of that of 2022, as well as the plan to construct a Sports Development Centre in the Local Government Area.

He equally promised to support the capacity building plans of the Football Council, for Refrees and Coaches in the Local Government.

The Chairman of the Kwara State Football Association, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa, commended the state government and the TIC Chairman for supporting the development of sports, especially football.

Mallam Idris, while presenting the FA souvenir to the TIC Chairman through the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, charged the Football Council to make its presence felt in the area in terms of grassroots football.

Earlier, the Chairman of Isin Football Council, Dr. Isaac Olaitan Oloruntoba described the gathering as a turning point in the history of football development in Isin, as he commended the state government, the Sports Commission, the State FA and stakeholders for the opportunity to serve.

Dr. Oloruntoba will serve alongside Oyinloye Joshua Oluseyi (Vice Chairman), Aransiola David Olatunbosun, Alhaji Azeez Gafar Tunde and Olajide Peter Muyiwa.

The Football Council Chairman also used the ocassion to unveil the Isin Football Coaches Association and Isin Football Referees Society, with the pledge to ensure adequate training and retraining for members of the two groups.

Present at the ocassion are the Administrator of Kwara Football Academy, Mallam Bako Ibrahim, Chairman of Offa Football Council, Alhaji Wasiu Bisi Lawal, the TIC Secretary, who doubles as the Supervisor for Sports and Youth Engagement, Hon. Benjamen Jolayemi, HOD Education, Hajia Omolola Hamzat and HOD Health, Alhaji Mohammed Yisa, among others.

Meanwhile, the Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Isin Local Government Area, Engr Timothy Tunde Fadipe has introduced an U15 Football tournament in honour of Govenor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

While presenting Isin Football Council members to the stakeholders in Owu-Isin, the Headquarters of Isin Local Government Area, the Chairman, who was adjudged as the Best Performing Chairman in the state said that the competition was initiated to appreciate the Number One citizen for his performance in government.

The competition will be competed by teams within the Local Government.
