As part of efforts at promoting sports and sporting activities, and also provide good Hostel accommodation, Kwara state government has approved the renovation of one of the Kwara Football Academy Hostels.
According to information from the Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, Hostel B has been approved for renovation, among the three blocks of the Hostels.
To this end, the Ministry, through an advertorial, has asked interested and competent contractors to participate in the bidding process for the renovation of the edifice.
Interested contractors have been enjoined to obtain Bid Documents at the Ministry, and also expects them to submit completed Technical and Financial bids documents on or before October 23rd, 2020.
The three blocks of Hostels had served as accommodation for athletes and officials before now, especially anytime the state hosts any major competitions.
The Hostels were ceded to the Kwara Football Academy (KFA) when the institution which combines the teachings of football and education was established in 2005.
Since 2005, the Hostels have been the property of the Academy, and even though they are now dilapidated, little or no effort have been made to fix them, until the recent steps by the present government.
The planned renovation was also part of efforts by the government to have all the facilities at the Kwara State Stadium Complex renovated and modernized.
Work is also expected to commence very soon, on the construction of two additional squash courts at the Complex this year.
