NNL PlayOffs: AbraySports is not going to Ibadan to make up numbers -Yusuf

Chairman of AbraySports Football Club, Abdullahi Yusuf has stated that the club is not going to Ibadan centre for NLO qualifiers into the second tier nation football league, Nigeria National League (NNL) to make up the numbers.

“Our target is to win and be in the Nigerian National League (NNL),” he explained to newsmen in Ilorin today, Tuesday May 14, 2024.

AbraySports emerged champions at the Ilorin centre of the NLO, after beating nine other clubs to the spot, but the club Chairman understands that the Ibadan campaign is not going to be a walk in the park.

He said, “Earlier, before the commencement of the Nationwide League One (NLO) 2023/24, my boys promised to give me 101 percent commitment and they have delivered. They have also pledged even more support for the club in Ibadan.

“Our ultimate dream is not NNL. We are targeting the top flight and we are willing to work hard for it,” Adekunle said.

The Chairman has demonstrated an uncommon doggedness in the difficult lower league terrain, maintaining consistency in the NLO. The club had two of his boys signed on in some European clubs earlier in the year.

There are reports that five of his players are also being targeted for Nigeria’s cadet teams this year.

Speaking on the challenges of club proprietorship in Nigeria, Adekunle said that it has been hard, difficult but the victory in Ilorin has made it worthwhile.
