Offa Local Government will host the 6th edition of the annual First Lady U-14 Boys and Girls Inter Local Government Table Tennis Championship, slated to hold at Offa Grammar School, between August 26th to 28th, 2025.
While receiving the Organiser, Prince Dare Adebayo and his team at the Local Government Secretariat today, Friday June 20, 2025, the Chairman, Alhaji Sulaiman Olatunji, popularly known as Omituntun said that the Local Government is ready to host the Championship.
“This is a sports loving Local Government, and we will set a befitting stage to host the Championship which is in honour of our mother, Ambassador Professor Mrs. Olufolake AbdulRazaq. We will host and support the competition.
“We will not only host, we will do so to add value to the Championship in terms of making it highly successful, and in participation and performance.
Also speaking, the Speaker of Offa Local Government Area, Hon. Sarafa Mustapha said that Local Government has the capacity to host a hitch-free competition.
Earlier in his address, the Organiser and Coordinator of the project, Prince Dare Omowumi Adebayo said that competition is in honour of the First Lady, and as well, empowerment platform for the youths through sports.
He pointed out that the competition has been held in Ilorin, Moro and Irepodun Local Government Areas, in a bid to ensure it’s spread to the nooks and crannies of the state, and that it’s the turn of Offa to set stage for hosting it.
Prince Dare said that Kwara State is blessed with talented players at the grassroots, hence the idea of taking the competition round all the Local Government Areas.
He eulogised the wife of Governor AbdulRasaq as a great amazon whose love for children can only be likened to a passionate and kind mother who gave all the support to the players.
He commended her for encouraging the children by reminding them to study and combine their sports talents to become an all-rounder
Others who graced the ocassion are the DPM of the Council, Mallam Abdullahi Haruna, the HOD Education, Alhaja Hamzat Omolola, the Sports Officer, Onawola Opeyemi and the Chairman of the Football Council of Offa, Alhaji Wasju Lawal.
