President Federation Cup: Prince Oladimeji optimistic of Kwara United’s victory, commend Gov AbdulRazaq

Former Chairman of Kwara United Football Club, Prince Oladimeji Ladi Thompson has expressed optimism on the club’s victory in the final of this year’s President Federation Cup competition holding in Lagos.

Kwara United will take on Abakaliki FC of Ebonyi in the final of the 2025 President Federation Cup competition at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, in Lagos, on Saturday June 28, 2025.

While speaking to sportsbash.com.ng today, Monday June. 23, 2025, in Ilorin, the two-time Chairman of the Club, Prince Oladimeji commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his investment in sports, which he says, is yielding positive results.

“I will want to specially commend Governor AbdulRazaq, the Chairman of the Nigeria Governor’s Forum, and equally congratulate him in advance, for this great achievement.

“It’s a club I have managed. I know their current capacity, and have confidence in the team to deliver. I am sure they will win the trophy that has eluded us for a very long time.

Since 1945 when the premier cup football competition was introduced, Kwara United has not gone this far. The only Ilorin team that reached the final was Alyuf Salam Rocks, when they lost the 1976 final to Enugu Rangers.

“I have no doubt that the team will come back to Ilorin with the trophy. I wish them the best.

“The victory will not be for Kwara state alone. The victory is for our Governor, Mallam AbdulRazaq, for all of us in sports, especially in football, for Kwara state and for the whole of North Central.

It would be recalled that Prince Oladimeji led Kwara United to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), from the Nigeria National League (NNL) twice, aside other achievements, in his over six years reign.
