The Senator representing Kwara North Senatorial District, Senator Sulaiman Sadiq Umar, has urged Kwara United Football Club to intensify their efforts and build upon their recent success in the ongoing President Federation Cup competition.

Kwara United advanced to the semi-finals for the first time in the club’s history after defeating Akwa United FC 5–3 on penalties, following a 2–2 draw in a thrilling quarter-final encounter held in Enugu.

Senator Sadiq congratulated the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for the historic achievement by the state’s beloved team. He also commended the Governor for his consistent investment in youth empowerment and sports development across the state.

In addition, he extended his commendation to the Club Chairman, Kumbi Titiloye, members of the board, players, coaching crew, non-playing staff, as well as the Supporters’ and Fans’ Club for their collective role in the team’s remarkable progress.

While charging the team to remain focused and strive to win the tournament, Senator Umar noted that such a victory would serve as a worthy reward for Governor AbdulRazaq’s passionate efforts in promoting sports in Kwara State. He further pledged his continued support to the team’s advancement.

The Senator encouraged the players and coaches to seize this unique opportunity to etch their names in the annals of Kwara State sports history by becoming the team that brings home the Federation Cup. “You have what it takes – go ahead and do it,” he added.

Senator Umar also called on political office holders across the state to unite in supporting the Governor’s sports development initiatives and to rally behind Kwara United as they aim for national glory.

He emphasized that Governor AbdulRazaq has consistently invested in the growth of sports through infrastructural development, inclusive participation, and the promotion of unity and togetherness across the state.
