…As Kwara FA Chairman charges team to go for glory
The U14 Boys from Kwara Football Academy have landed in Kaduna as they gear up to compete in the 21st edition of the YSFON/Chief Of Naval Staff U14 Boys Championship.
The team, consisting of 20 players and four officials, arrived in the ancient city of Kaduna yesterday Friday May 16, 2025, ready to represent Kwara State in this year’s prestigious tournament with other states vying for the coveted trophy.
The 21st edition of Chief of the Naval Staff U14 Boys and 13th edition Naval Officers’ Wives Association (NOWA) U-17 Girls Soccer tournament kicks-off in Kaduna, at the Main-Bowl of Ahmadu Bello Stadium on Sunday 18 May 2025.
Youth teams from all the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory will participate in the premier cup competition which is on the calendar of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON).
The Chairman of the Kwara State Football Association Mallam Abdullahi Idris Musa was on ground to welcome the team in Kaduna.
He charged the team to go for glory and win the tournament for the second time for the state, having achieved the feat in 2022 on home soil.
He stressed that Kwara is known for excellence in grassroots football and urged the players to uphold the glory by playing all out for the trophy at stake.
After the screening exercise conducted today, Saturday May 17, 2025, 17 of the 20 players presented by team Kwara passed the screening exercise and will compete in Group C, alongside Nassarawa and Balyesa states.
Group A has, host Kaduna, Zamfara and Kebbi, Group B has defending champion Enugu, with Kano and Kogi State, while Group D has Bauchi, Niger, Ondo and the Nigerian Army U14 team.
The competition was burned out of a well designed partnership between the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) and the Nigeria Navy, and it’s tailored towards the development and unity of Nigerian Youth. The closing ceremony is billed for Saturday 24th May, 2025.
