After Day Four of the ongoing 1st Honours Independent National Baseball League holding at the Baseball Park in Adewole, Ilorin, Kwara Baseball team is leading, after playing five matches in the series so far.

Kwara State began its journey in the competition on Tuesday, defeating both Delta and Oyo teams by four runs to three and 20 runs to nil respectively, but lost the third game on Wednesday to Bayelsa by 14 runs to four.

The team bounced back with a comfortable 20 runs to four victory over Ondo, capping it up this evening with 11 runs to six triumph over Oyo, to end with 55 runs for, and 27 runs against, after five games.

Bayelsa team has played one game more, and are currently on second position with 75 runs for and 21 runs against. Delta has 59 runs for and 14 runs against after five games, while Oyo, which has also played six matches, has 25 runs for and 92 runs against.

Ondo has played four matches so far, and hasn’t won any, making it the poorest team in the competition. They have seven runs for and 65 runs against in the four matches played.

Hostilities continues tomorrow, Friday, April 11, 2025, with four matches lined up on the card. Ondo will seek to redeem their image as they file out against Kwara in the first game, beginning from 8.00am, while Delta, which seems to have woken up from their slumber, take on Oyo in the second match by 10.30am.

It will be the turn of Ondo and Bayelsa by 1.00pm, while the last match between Delta and Kwara starts from 3.30pm.

The competition ends on Saturday with the last three games that will finally decide which state wins the competition. It will be Oyo taking on Ondo, Kwara against Bayelsa, which promises to be the star match of the day, and Delta taking on Ondo.

The tournament will feature a ₦300,000 star prize for the champion, while the second and third-placed teams will receive ₦200,000 and ₦100,000, respectively, alongside medals and trophies
