Abimbola Queens FA emerges champions of Olabim soccer fiesta

A scintillating encounter witnessed by members of the football fraternity in Kwara State was the final match of the Olabim female 6-a-side competition at the LGEA School, Oke-Oyi yesterday.

Abimbola Queens defeated Olabim FA 2-0 in the final of the tournament which featured six clubs within and outside Oke-Oyi community.

The organiser of the  tournament, Chief Mrs Abimbola Olaoye, said that the competition was borne out of her discovery of numerous potentials inherent in female children, scout for talents and launch them into the world of economic and sports opportunities.

Speaking at the final, the Chairman of the Kwara State Football Association, Alhaji Idris Abdullahi Musa restated the committment of his board towards encouraging female football at all levels.

He added that the body will work assidously to implement all the policies on the game as inspired by FIFA, CAF and NFF.

Guests at the event included Director of Sports Kwara State, Mallam Alarape Atanda, Kwara United Chairman, Kumbi Titiloye, Director of Football, ABS FC, Alloy Chukwuemeka and Kwara State Referees Council Chairman, T.A Muhammed.

The event was also graced  by the National Association of Women in Sports (NAWIS), led by the Coordinator, Mrs Serah Bola Esan, Alhaji Ayinla Gattayaki, Education Secretaries from Ilorin South and East, Ibraheem S.A and Alhaji S.O Abdulmalik respectively, the husband of the organiser, DSP Olaoye and a host of others.
