The Committee for the 2024 Kwara SWAN Media Games has unveiled plans to.organise exciting sports fiesta, and has also picked December 19, 2024, for the multi-sports Games among sports journalists and media workers in the state.
The Committee, headed by Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, after its meeting on Sunday November 17, 2024, drew modalities and schedules for the Games, and has also agreed to hold the draws on December 6, 2024.
A statement signed by the Secretary of the Commitee, Sodiq Adebara, quoted the Chairman of the Committee, Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka as saying that the multi-sport competition was introduced to foster unity, promote healthy living, and celebrate the sporting excellence of journalists across the state.
The draw for one-day event will take place on December 6th and the Games will conclude with a seminar, providing a platform for participants to network, gain insights, and celebrate their achievements on 19th, 2024
According to Adebara, all the Chapels under the auspices of the Nigeria Union of Joirnalists (NUJ) in the state will compete in the Games.
Among the events to be competed are volleyball, squash, chess, badminton, scrabble and table tennis.
SWAN football team will engage a team of professionals, in the grand finale of the Games, at the Kwara Football Academy.
The Chairman of the Committee also announced the appointment of Alhaji Ahmed Abdullahi as the Technical Consultant for the Games, to ensure the festival is managed professionally
Chief Chukwuemeka reaffirmed the team’s dedication to delivering a memorable and impactful event that reflects SWAN’s commitment to sportsmanship and professional development.
