2nd President Tinubu U18 Boys Football tourney hots up in Katsina

The 2nd edition of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu U-18 Boys Football Tournament kicked off at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina, Katsina State, with…. jostling for honors.

While kicking off the tournament, Katsina State Governor Mallam Dikko Umaru Radda, charged participants to compete fairly, and promote the culture of unity.

The Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner of Sports and Youth Development, Aliyu Lawal Zakari, welcomed all the participating states to the home of hospitality and heritage.

He describes the tournament as an avenue for nurturing young talent, sportsmanship, and cordial relationships between the participating states.

Radda assured of the state government’s readiness to continue to host and sponsor the tournament in Katsina State, to complement the federal government’s efforts at promoting football from the grassroots.

Addressing the pressmen, the YSFON National President, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, represented by the Vice President of the North West, Aminu Ahmed Wali, acknowledged the efforts and commitment of the Katsina State government for hosting the second edition of the tournament.

Dr. Gawuna restates readiness to ensure fairness among all the participating states from the beginning to the end of the tournament.

Bauchi State defeated host Katsina in the opening match of the competition. Sokoto and Kano played out a two-all draw, while Kwara defeated Kaduna by two goals to nil.

Katsina State is the defending champion.
