Alhaja Segilola Alaya congratulates Ayo Omidiran on swearing-in as FCC Chairperson

Alhaja Segilola Alaya has congratulated Alhaja Ayo Hulayat Omidiran on her swearing-in as the new Chairperson of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), describing the appointment as a well-deserved recognition of years of dedicated service to Nigeria.

In a statement made available to journalists, Alhaja Alaya praised Omidiran as a woman of vision, integrity and uncommon commitment to national development, noting that her emergence at the helm of the FCC is a strong signal of renewed hope for fairness and equity in public service.

According to her, Alhaja Ayo Omidiran’s journey to national prominence has been built on consistency, competence and courage. She first gained wide recognition as a two-term Member of the House of Representatives, where she represented the Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency of Osun State between 2011 and 2019.

During her time in the National Assembly, she distinguished herself as a strong voice for women, youth development, sports and inclusive governance.

Beyond politics, Omidiran has also made remarkable contributions to sports administration in Nigeria. She is the founder of Omidiran Babes Football Club and has served on committees of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and FIFA, helping to create platforms for young talents, especially female footballers, to thrive.

Alhaja Alaya, who is the Chairperson of Kwara FA Female Football Development Committee and former Board member of the Nigeria Woman Football League (NWFL), recalled that Omidiran was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2025 as Chairperson of the Federal Character Commission, a key institution responsible for promoting fairness, balance and inclusion in appointments and public service across the country.

Following her confirmation by the Senate, she was formally sworn in earlier this year in Abuja.

While congratulating her on the new responsibility, Alhaja Segilola Alaya expressed confidence that Omidiran would bring her wealth of experience, discipline and patriotism to bear in repositioning the FCC for greater impact.

“She has always stood for justice, equity and national unity. I have no doubt that Nigeria will benefit immensely from her leadership at the Federal Character Commission,” Alaya said.

She prayed for divine guidance, wisdom and strength for Omidiran as she takes on the task of serving the nation at such a critical time.

“May Allah grant her the grace to succeed and use this office to promote fairness, peace and unity across our dear country,” she added.
