Chairman, Oyun Football Council, Fowomola, wife bag chieftaincy titles in Ikotun-Ile

The Chairman of Oyun Local Government Football Council, Chief (Alhaji) Saliman Ajani Fowomola was yesterday, Sunday June 8, 2025, conferred with the chieftaincy title of Bobajiroro of Ikotun-Ile Kingdom, by His Royal Highness, Oba (Dr) Abdulrazaq Adebayo Abioye GCOP, Jp, the Ilufemiloye 1, the Olukotun of Ikotun-Ile.

Also, his wife, Chief (Mrs) Abibat Tinuola Fowomola was conferred with the title of Yeye Bobajiroro of Ikotun-Ile.

The ceremony, held at the Palace of Oba Abioye drew the creme.de la creme of the society to the ancient town, including, but not limited to Kwara sports stakeholders from far and near, friends.and associates, who all converged to witness the thrilling and memorable atmosphere.

While installing the duo, Oba Abioye described the recognition as well deserved, owing to their integrity, honesty, transparency, service and sacrifice, towards the development of Ikotun-Ile.

Chief Fowomola, an astute administrator joined the services of the University of Ilorin in 1985, served diligently across various departments, before leaving the institution in 2019, at the mandatory retirement age of 65.

He is the Co-founder and Coordinator, Ikotun-Ile Youth Club, promoter of youth education and sports engagement, active member of like-minds in community relief efforts, Chairman, Ikotun-Ile Muslim Forum, Board member, Ikotun-Ile High School, and member of various community development initiatives in the town.

Chief Fowomola was Chairman of Kwara State Football Referees Council, and former national officer of the Nigeria Football Regerees’ Association. He is from Oriaje’s Compound, in Ikotun-Ile.

The wife, Chief (Mrs) Abibat Tinuola Fowomola is from Aroro’ Compound, in Ikotun-Ile.

The trained fashion designer is an active member of Ansar-udeen Society of Nigeria, Ilorin branch. She is currently the Vice Chairman of Division Four Wing of Ansar-udeen Society, Ilorin. She is also a foundation member of Irewumi Ladies Social Club of Ikotun-Ile.

Among the dignitaries that graced the colourful ceremony are Kwara Referees Council members, led by its Chairperson, Professor (Mrs) S. T. Ajadi, Kwara FA members, led by its Vice Chairman, Bashorun Kayode Bankole, Supporters and Fans Club of Kwara United Football Club, Kwara United management members, led by the Secretary, Wale Obalola and Bayour Issah of Sportspro International.

Others are Mr. Emmanuel Dada Obafemi, Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, the Director of Football for Abubakar Bukola Saraki FC, Chairman, Kwara YSFON, Mallam Ademola Kiyesola, members of Unilorin and Ansar-udeen Society communities, family, friends and others, who were later entertained at the residence of the celebrants.
