The 6th edition of the Dr. Chukwudi Ogbolu Kids Cup tournament will kick off in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital on Sunday, 16th November, 2025.

The tournament, which is geared towards discovery and nurturing of young talents at the grassroots, is now at its 6th edition.

It’s being sponsored by Dr. Chukwudi Ogbolu, a USA-based medical practitioner, sports philanthropist, and lover of Kiddies football.

Twenty-four grassroots Kiddies
Football Academies have registered for the competition and the one year academic scholarship Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.

The organizer of the tournament, Coach Soni Omo Ahamioje said it is a unique avenue to hunt and nurture young talents from the ages of 8 to 12 years.

It is an annual novel soccer competition for kids, as registration for the tournament is free, and all participating teams will get an appearance gift.

According to him, it is going to be total football, coupled with entertainment, skills, colour, and glamour.

At the end of the competition, the best players will be sponsored to partake in the zonal screening of National U-13 boys. He also promised to organize a hitch-free tournament that would be worthy of emulation.

While thanking the sponsor of the competition, Coach Ahamioje called on the well to do in the society to emulate the philanthropic spirit and uncommon generosity of Dr. Ogbolu, and assist the youths in both sporting and academic programs.

It will be recalled that the tournament has produced three players for the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria, since its inception.
