The Board member of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), Hajia Segilola Alaya has described the demise of former Chairman of Igbo Traders Football Association (ITFA), late Joseph Igiri, as shocking.

Hajia Alaya, who is also the Chairperson of the Female Football Development Committee of the Kwara State Football Association in a statement today, in Ilorin also said that the contributions of the deceased to football development in the state will be greatly missed.

Late Igiri left this sinful world in the early hours of Friday December 20th, 2024, at age 52, after a protracted illness.

Until his death, late Igiri was a prominent member of the Office of the Nigeria’s Pillar of Sports (ONPS), and the Welfare Officer of Abubakar Bukola Saraki Football Club of Ilorin.

While condoling the family, Hajia Alaya added that Igiri’s death will create a vacuum that would be very difficult to fill.

Hajia expressed he heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the Ebonyi-born former Chairman of ITFA, Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka and the entire sports community.

She prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased, and equally prayed God to grant the family he left behind, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
