Olomu of Omu-Aran appeals to Gov. AbdulRazaq to construct Irepodun Mini Stadium

The Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Adeoti, has appealed to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara to help construct the Irepodun local government Mini Stadium, Omu-Aran, for the purpose of development of sports.

The Traditional Ruler, made the appeal on Wednesday when members of the Kwara State Sports Commission, led by its Executive Chairman, Malam Bola Mogaji paid him a courtesy visit.

The Kwara State Sports Commission members were in Omu-Aran for the finals of the Olomu Sports Festival.

Oba Adeoti, who described sports as a unifying factor, said when the mini Stadium is constructed, it would improve sporting activities in Irepodun local government area of Kwara.

He thanked Commission for supporting the Olomu Sports Festival, which the Traditional Ruler believed was capable of producing athletes for the state.

Responding, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Malam Bola Mogaji, thanked the Oba Adeoti for contributing his quota for the development of sports in the state.

Mogaji said the commission will do all it can to ensure the Olomu Sports Festival is an annual event.

The Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission reminded the gathering how many athletes were discovered at the grassroots level across the country in the olden days.

Mogaji, a former Squash player himself, told Oba Adeoti that the commission will soon write the community to provide an Office for one of his officers who is expected to scout for athletes in Kwara South Senatorial District.

Mrs Monisola Makanjuola, who represents professionals on the Kwara State Sports Commission board, later presented a trophy to Oba Adeoti for the overall winner of the Olomu Sports festival.
