The 4th edition of the Helbank Inter-Club Volleyball Championship, being organised by the Kwara State Volleyball Association will hold between Monday 13th to Friday 17th September, 2021 at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
Speaking to sports writers in Ilorin at the Press Conference heralding the competition, the Chairman of the Kwara State Volleyball Association, Bashorun Kayode Bankole said the annual championship is organised to develop the game and its standard in the state, towards producing more potential future stars.
Bankole confirmed that 15 clubs, comprising of nine male teams and six female teams will jostle for honours in the five-day championship, powered by Helbank Shipping Company Limited, to further complement government’s efforts at promoting sporting activities.
He applauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq for identifying and focusing on all sports, through the renovation of facilities which includes Outdoor Volleyball Courts, Outdoor Basketball Courts, Squash Courts, Handball Courts, Baseball Park and the construction of other facilities.
Earlier, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Coach Bola Magaji commended the continuous support of the association through the annual Helbank Championship, maintaining that the gesture is no doubt complementing the huge investments of Mallam AbdulRasaq in sports sector.
Coach Magaji, who advised parents and guadians to always allow their children and wards to participate in sporting activities challenged players featuring in the five-day event to be disciplined and focused, in order to reach the peak of their career.
There will be trophy for the winners, prizes for the Most Vuable Player, Best Spiker, Best Setter, as well as cash rewards for the best three teams in each category, at the end of the competition.
