Harmony Spikers and AA Super Stars have qualified for the final of the 4th edition of Helbank Inter- Clubs Volleyball competition, scheduled to holding this afternoon at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
In the semi-final contests of the male category decided yesterday, AA Super Stars defeated Olalomi Volleyball Club by three straight set, 25-18, 25-22 and 25-12.
Also, Harmony Spikers overwhelmed Offa Volleyball Club three sets to two, 25-23, 25-18, 19-25, 20-25 and 15-14.
Olalomi will battle Offa Volleyball Club in the third place decider this morning, before the final match billed for 3:00pm.
In the female category, Olooru Super Angels defeated Unilorin team three straight sets, 25-13, 25-12, and 25-23, to advance to the final while Tianah Spikers beat Olalomi Royal Spikers 3-2 sets, 26-24, 25-23, 19-25, 8-25 and 16-14, to also pick the final ticket.
Unilorin will play Olalomi Royal Spikers in the third place match this morning, while the final comes up by 3.00pm, same venue.
The annual championship is being organised to develop the game and its standard in the state, towards producing more potential future stars.
15 clubs, comprising of nine male teams and six female teams registered for the five-day championship, powered by Helbank Shipping Company Limited, to further complement government’s efforts at promoting sporting activities.
There will be trophy for the winners, prizes for the Most Valuable Player, Best Spiker, Best Setter, as well as cash rewards for the best three teams in each category, at the end of the competition.
