Aitor Karanka insists Jose Mourinho deserves some credit for the four Champions League titles Real Madrid won after he departed.
Karanka was Mourinho’s assistant at Real.
And he said of the Tottenham manager: “The years after us they won the Champions League and I think José and the players who were before could have had some credit, some influence was left. It could not have been when we were there, but I am delighted that it was afterwards.”
On working with Mourinho, former Middlesbrough manager Karanka added: “Behind the media there is always a normal person.
“José Mourinho the coach has ways of working, of directing the matches and the press conferences, and working day by day within this requirement was wonderful.”
