Kwara state government has called for productive and constructive advice towards the uplift of sports in the state, especially taking advantage of the new vista occasioned by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The Executive Chairman of the State Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Mogaji, while receiving the new Pillar of Sports, Sir Prince Oladimeji Ladi Thompson in his office today said that the present administration has shown enough commitment towards the development of youth and sports, with the private sector expected to complement where necessary.
Mallam Mogaji congratulated Prince Oladimeji for the appointment, which he described as call to service, adding that it’s in recognition of his support to the sector.
“Your contributions to the development of sports are tremendous, and we will want you to sustain the support, for the sake of the youth.
In his opening address, the Pillar of Sports in Kwara state, Sir Prince Oladimeji Ladi Thompson reiterated his commitment to the development of humanity through sports, especially at the grassroots.
“I will want to officially congratulate you on your appointment as the Executive Chairman of the Sports Commission, and to also let you know that I am ready to support your programmes when called upon.
“You are an advocate of grassroots sports, and you have the experience and capability of taking sports to the next level. I am ready to work with the government to uplift sports in the state.
‘I will also want to commend our Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for what he is doing for sports, especially in the area of infrastructure, which I think is the foundation for sports development.
He praised the Governor for the bold steps towards the regressing of the Mian-Bowl pitch, and as well, the approval to have the Olofa Stadium in Offa upgraded to standard.
It would be recalled that Prince Oladimeji was unveiled as the new Pillar of Sports in the state last month, at an elaborate investiture held at Kwara Hotel Limited, in Ilorin.
