Kumbi Titiloye, the Chairman of Kwara United Football Club and Board member of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has highlighted the financial challenges of maintaining two teams in the league.

Kwara United has a youth team competing in the N-Youth League Cup competition, asides the NPFL side.

Kumbi therefore, urged the state government to continue its support to help the club meet its financial obligations.

Kumbi attributed the team’s recent impressive performance to the motivation and encouragement given to both the players and the technical crew.

Speaking after Kwara United’s commanding victory over Sunshine Stars in Ilorin, he praised the team’s resilience, especially after the departure of the former Technical Adviser, Coach Kabir Dogo just a week before the season began.

He encouraged the technical crew to trust their strategy, noting that the younger players are improving.

Kumbi also pointed out that live broadcast of matches and media presence at league venues have contributed to the professionalism seen in the 2024/25 season so far, with more teams securing away wins and draws, keeping all stakeholders on their toes.

Kwara United triumphed 3-0 over Sunshine Stars, with Wasiu Alalade scoring a brace, and Shola AbdulRaheem adding another goal.

Alalade’s exceptional performance earned him the Cyteck Man of the Match award.

Kwara United is set to face Kano Pillars in their next match in Katsina on Sunday at Mohammed Dikko Stadium and has an outstanding game against El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri next Wednesday.
